Those Were the Days

Those were the days when life
was free in its youngest ways.
And time linger in a slow
moving child-like haze.

Today was forever and tomorrow
was only a day dream.
Baseball, licorice sticks and
chocolate ice cream.

Baby dolls, teddy bears and tea parties,
Little girls dance and whirl up the spiral
stairs.

Puppy dogs, kitty cats,
calico and funny hats.
Hop-scotch, jumping
rope with laughter
coming from childhood
hopes.

Summer days, swimming holes,
bicycles and fishing poles.
No time for grown up goals.

Days of  adventure, discovery
and childhood surprises.

Life was good, life was free.
What a great time just to be.

Those were the days!
What a treat at a place called;
Walnut street.
