It was a few years back
Grandma is sick and in the infirmary
I would stop and visit daily
That's when I met Henry and Cotton Candy
I would chirp and they would chirp back
They were caged would wait for me
Entertain those around in wheelchairs
Mom got well and I hadn't visited in a couple years
But I chirped when I entered the hall
They remembered me
They bend over greeted me with open wings
Those working daily said they had never seen this show
At first it was only Henry who would open his wings
But one day I said, "Cotton Candy show me your wings!"
And it often became a double show
Those in wheel chairs would gather around when I came
One day I arrived and this lady was blubbering
Only one bird Cotton Candy was in the cage
The lady in tears said one of the birds has died
I realized the importance to those birds on the aged
So I Leaned down, "Cotton Candy find Henry!"
Cotton Candy went to the hidden nest
Henry peaked his head out and saw me
Seconds later they put on a double show
The lady and some friends were beaming
But Henry's eyes let me know Henry is getting old
I know it is vain of me but I think the curtain is going down
But he struggled one more time to show his love
And at some time the show must end for all of us
