The story was a young eaglet fell
Into a barnyard chicken coop.
And not really knowing what he was
He bonded with this feathered group.
So thinking that he was a chicken...
He scratched and pecked upon the ground...
Filled his craw with chicken feed...
Until one day the farmer found
A young nature lover checking out
All his animals and birds
They shook hands and they exchanged
A pleasantry of words
"Say," the young man told the farmer,
"I just noticed something odd.
You've got an eagle in your chicken coop."
"Yeah," said the famer with a nod,
"I think he thinks he is a chicken...
He's as stay put as concrete...
But contributes nothing, can't lay eggs,
And he's nothing I can eat."
"Well, would you mind if I worked with him?"
Was the young man's quick reply.
"I will teach him he's an eagle
And I'll teach him how to fly."
The young man picked the eaglet up...
Held him high on his gloved hand...
Looked him in the eye and said,
"This you have got to understand.
You are, in no way, a chicken!
You are an eagle....King of birds!
You need to fly high with the eagles!"
Threw him upward with these words.
Watched as the young bird circled once
And he did create a loop...
But headed right back to the ground...
Right back to the chicken coop.
"I guess I'll have to take him higher."
The farmer pointed to the barn...
"I'll get way up upon the hayloft ."
And put the bird back on his arm.
"Hear me, bird, you are no chicken!"
He told the eaglet as before.
"You are an eagle ...King of birds!
And God created you to soar!"
He thrust him out there...watched again...
This time the eaglet circled twice
Then right back to the chicken yard...
Back to his pecking paradise.
"I guess I'll have to take him higher...
I'll take him to the mountain top!"
All the way up the nature lover
Preached to the eaglet without stop,
"Hear me, bird, you are no chicken!
You are an eagle, wild and free!
You have more feathers than any chicken!
A coop is not where you should be!"
They saw great eagles fly about
As they approached their destination.
The young man thrust the eaglet out
And watched as without hesitation
He began to soar with his own kind!
That bird was never seen again!
Guess he found he was no chicken!
That he had never ever been!
Is there a morale to this story?
Yes, don't let the devil tell you lies.
He'll tell you you're a chicken
When you should be soaring eagle skies.

(you're an eagle when you fly)
Isaiah 40:31
But those who wait on the LORD will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not
grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Exodus 19:4 You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians,
and how I bore you on eagles' wings, and brought you
to Myself.
Revelation 12:14
But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle
that she might fly into the wilderness to her place,
where she is nourished for a time and times and half
a time from the presence of the serpent.
