Down by the Amazon

With the first tree's fall

A deathly silence

Descended over all

Underneath the noise is

A dearth of natural sound

As machines of destruction

Crawled over broken ground,

A veritable posse of

Tree killing machines

Preparing new bare earth for

The new crop of soya bean

To feed the herds of cattle

That belch and fart methane

And for this they turn the forest

Into an artificially fertilised plain

The lungs of the Earth

Suffering its pain

So just a very few can

 Make a quick cash gain

The climate is warming
The waters set to rise
Yet in the cause of profit

It’s all declared to be lies

Every bough still

Not a quiver of a leaf

Each tree in the forest

Stood abject in its grief.
