Harry Sweeden. My life in verse.

Silent teacher

The best teacher that I ever had
Had never spoken a word
The wisdom that was passed to me
Some would say “is totally absurd…”
My teacher was an Alsatian dog
That found me in much pain
Everything I knew was upside down
And every day it would rain…
The sunshine seemed to never shine
Every day felt so grey
Nothing would ever go right
But then all that went away…
Suddenly I found I had started to smile
Sometimes I remembered to laugh
Then one morning I awoke bathed in warm sunlight
And I knew that that the worst had now passed.
The reason was my beautiful dog
Who had taught me when I’d had a fall
Unconditional love was a gift worth imparting
Without saying a single word at all.
