I use to fear the Wolf Hour
The dark of night right before dawn
The emerging light would send the demons
Scurrying to where ever demons hide when the light shines

In this dark night I saw: behind each wolf stands an angel
And the wolf is the companion of the angel:  the wolf sent
Ahead to prepare the way:  If you can’t claim the dark:
You can’t embrace the light.  I have tamed the wolves

I watch the Angels singing—from a distance
Scratching the wolves sleeping at my feet
Behind the ears—their bite no longer feared
But not yet ready to embrace the scorching heat of angels
