INTO THE WINTER WOMB

Snuggled down in brown fur
Two dogs close by
A warming station for Winter's cold
Remembering Betty, Nancy, Betty
The ones who were my mothers
Not understanding going into
The womb in Winter's cold to regenerate
As the light goes dim towards December
Then Winter Solstice comes renewing minutes of light
A day at a time growing in Spring
Born again every year
Over and over
As a tulip bulb
Dormant.
