in times like these...    January 6 2017

people will disappoint

I have often disappointed
myself

this is the nature
of living and life
learn it
be aware
or be swallowed up

its times like these
where my anger has
been a friend to me
kept me alive
kept me in line
moved me on down the road
from indecision
onto the path of resolve

I will be the one
deserving of respect
not the boot
nor the doormat
nor vulgar words

anger will be my guard
sharp eyed
aware
wary

don't pretend to be
friend
only to be contrary
I know who you were
yesterday and
the day before

anger can keep things
consistent
it doesn't have
to be a pestilence
insisting on being right
but only in being
heard

it sweeps me past
the impasse of another's
insistence
that I am somehow
not that strong
or in the wrong
when my anger informs me
otherwise

its an ally to be trusted
others can disappoint
fail to stay the course

why deliberate with
non-believers
false-witnessers
non-perceivers
of my true self

while the sentry's at her post
peace will
reside here within.
