“Can't Tell Her”
I can't tell her,
I just can't.
Everything has been going so well,
I just can't.
Sometimes lies are safer,
Better for all involved.
The truth only magnifies the facts,
And when I add up all the facts,
I just can't tell her.
Why mess up,
A perfectly good thing.
Promises can only be broken,
Truth's turned into lies,
I just can't tell her.
But the guilt,
The guilt is killing me.
If I told her the truth,
Things will change,
She'll be different,
Changed for all eternity,
I just can't tell her.
She'll never again flash me,
That innocent school girl smile.
Those long glances in jest,
Will turn awkward.
The back and forth banter of friends,
Destroyed.
She never needs to know,
I'll just keep pretending,
It never happened,
I never fell in Love…
