This Home I Long For Yet Have Never Seen

the moment I woke
is already gone
I had been dreaming of
a home I have never seen

there are friends there
ones whose outlines are fading

there are memories there
ones which I thought were indelible

there are elements there
I have relished and craved
which no longer exist

there are companions there
who've loved me unceasingly
yet their love is no longer physically
palpable

I would like to hold onto this ether
but it is moisture and myths
somewhere in the dense mist

I would rather stay lost in it
than lose it
this home I long for
yet have never seen.
