Mom born and died
Her life for the most part tragedy
A child sent into society as an orphan
Both her Mom and Father alive
Yet abandoned never the less
How do I judge the reasons?
I later knew Grandma as Grandma
My step Granddad as Grandpa
Only as an adult I was told Grandpa
A man who had no children of his own
Saw that Grandma looked up her children
Mom's brother brought up in Boys town
It was hard times whatever the reasons
I could never abandon my children
What history I can find Mom was brought up by strangers
But in Christian families she took on the faith
It seemed hard times she was passed on
She would say I used to live here but they lost their business
We cried but they could no longer care for me
Eventually she was raised in Salt Lake City
The Mormon's took her in as a teenager
Those times were sad because she did not fit in
She had long ago accepted a different faith
One good memory Mom was adopted by a family in San Francisco
She talked lovingly of her adoption, and her sister
The Mother of the littliest Angel
Only those who have read my poetry know of the littlest Angel
Grandma found her near adult and brought her home
I have been told at Grandpa's insistence
"You well find those kids and take them home!"
That was how she met my Dad
The sadness of sad day in her life and mine
Years of abuse and pain from his endless drunken abuse
Some make excuses for addiction
I have no such illusions on personal choice
Addiction has no meaning when you hurt others
I grew up training to make him pay for each blow we received
Finally happy with my Step dad she contacted fatal Cancer
died young at the age of 54
Two days from now is the day of her death
Two days beyond the day of her birthday
I sit here with memories of a sad life
Comforted that I know she is with Jesus
Throughout her sad life she never lost faith in Jesus
