'' Don't Wish It Away ''

Ageing when young,
Makes you feel bolder,
As you take the next rung,
You wish you were older.

When asked your age,
You'll say seven and a half,
That helps you gauge,
What's next on your graph.

Primary schools gone,
Your secondary beckons,
In this your new dawn,
A dawdle one reckons.

With the rules you comply,
Get a good education,
In the blink of an eye,
You become a sensation.

Soon you're working away,
Earning a living,
Then each passing day,
Becomes less forgiving.

You can't do what you please,
The body is sore,
Getting up off your knees,
Becomes such a chore.

Then it has to be said,
You can no longer see,
You watch where you tread,
Glasses are the key.

For days now passed,
You develop a hunger,
You're no longer fast,
You wish you were younger.

Life is too short,
Enjoy every day,
Time, we can't thwart,
