Enter not His place of rest, For those who have never heard; Since they have not done their best, In adhering to the Word. But some will enter that place, For they have heard the Gospel; And have fallen in His grace, Spreading it to the people. Those who have heard the Good News, Cannot enter since they stray; Still living with earthly views, Causing them to disobey. So God set another day, Many years after you failed; Which happens to be today, For curing what you have ailed. If you hear God start to speak, Be not stubborn and ignore; Pay attention as you seek, His Word to search for the cure. A time of rest does exist, And it is not forbidden; If agony will persist, For life nothing is hidden. A time for rest and worship, For all people of the Lord; To build your relationship, Show He is loved and adored. There is rest for the weary, Time to rest for your labor; A time to become cheery, Fellowship with your neighbor. So we must make an effort, To enter that place of rest; And we should never divert, As we proceed in this quest. The Word of God is living, Sharper than a two-edge sword; Allows time with forgiving, Making amends with the Lord. Copyright © 2017 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
