'' In The Presence Of Someone So Cruel ''

I took a sword,
When I met the lord,
His stories can be quite scary,
With genocide he struck a chord,
Of him I had to be wary.

In days now past,
He left humans aghast,
When he created a terrible flood,
Many terrible deaths he amassed,
His seas were awash with our blood.

Another he inflicted,
Kept humans restricted,
So that he could gather his spoils,
Anyone else would have been convicted,
For giving them a plague of boils.

The innocent child,
You will feel riled,
But it's what the good lord willed,
The subject of mercy he reviled,
When he murdered the first born child.

He took away light,
Gave many a fright,
As into darkness we descended,
It's a very strange way to show off his might,
Compassionate I'd say needs amended.

He inflicted pain,
Drove animals insane,
When he decided they'd all be diseased,
From creating havoc he refused to refrain,
I wonder if he felt really pleased.

There are many more,
That went before,
Those mentioned are prime examples,
Mercy to god seems a terrible chore,
As over his subjects he tramples.

It's really odd,
That a caring god,
Would use revenge as a tool,
How could anyone be overawed,
