these times they have changed us

I once wrote
Hurrah for
the bullies

Its seems they've all
returned
are "in residence" everywhere
those deserving of the moniker
of bullies

filtering and
passing on their versions of truth

its keenly ironic
that if these are their end times
that if God showed up
he might not be so pleased

so many heavy-handed
zealot types
believe they're in charge these days
running us into
the ground

we do not belong to them
our lives and welfare are a sacred trust
yet they would have us
under thumbs and bolted down
with their take on laws and rules

taking away specially adapted cars
so a disabled man is forced to use the cheaper wheelchair

denying the homeless a place to sit or lie down
in the middle of the day
by strategically placing bars on the cement
so there's not enough room for one to sit or lie

greedy landlords raising rents
because they need to have it all
and don't give a toss about
us having more expenses than just paying
their high rents

food stamps programs are snipped and cut
there's desperation in long lines at pantries

teeth fall apart in our mouths
because the dentist is rarely if ever seen
and health care isn't a right
and clean air shouldn't be clean

those who do the dirtiest jobs
no one wants to do
are exiled and shunted away
separated from their loving families too

God has His bespectacled eyes upon us
He see everything
He doesn't need to take notes

don't let it be too late you were
sorry you couldn't behave kindly to others
for He casts the final vote

in the next life
you might be crushed
by the indignities you inflicted

Times New Roman Boys
are Not Men
Men are made of substance
boys are made of petty selfishness

cruelty begets eternal obscurity

Thank YOU SILVER BIRCH
for the story in Great Britain
of the legless man whose specially
adapted car was taken away from him
so that he could use his cheaper wheelchair
Note to the officious Bureaucrats for your
exemplary example of unkindness.

Yet, it seems, one doesn't have to look far to find
other examples in their own fair town
or city that compare to this.

My suggested solution?
Individual secret acts
of spontaneous random human kindness.
Try this idea every day
when you can.
improve the world
for yourself and those you
share the earth with...including
the animals and flora.

I believe we are all keepers for one another
