Oh, Now, The Pink Moon

what desserts the April sky brings
see the lustrous pink chiffon moon
filling the world with her sentient light

above the stars are wrapped in the faint film
of a nebulous pale negligee
how they wink and peep
down at me

I'm a child
blanketed in awe
a small pinprick
taking in a lunar spectacle
for the first time

what delicious delight this is
to lie awake late into the night
to know of such delight

I am
wide-eyed as an owl
watching from my bedroom aerie
at my third story window
facing due-east

what keen disappointment
when the first magenta beams
begin their morning embrace of Mother Earth
and the stars and moon are coaxed
into rolling onto the other side of tomorrow
where they will drowse until
another evening when they'll rise again

how I'd like another spoonful
to fill in my dreaming
please
bring me a another dipper full of heaven.
