This weekend I celebrate

The birthday of my childhood best friend
Jim well turn eighty this week
The old man that he be
In his youth often mistaken for the actor
David Jansen, today more resembling Gomer Pyle
Lucky Jim does not read my poetry
I myself sneaking up the ladder
But no worries, as Mom taught, I leave others
Behind to take my space, some errors erase
I don't worry about tomorrow, look out the window pane
As it has been lately no Sun lots of rain
To worry about it would drive one insane
If I leave behind good memories
He laughed, he cried, he joked now that he has left
It well be peaceful and full of rest
and if more love me than hate me
Then I know I did my best
My son said it best about the Judge at his memorial
The Judge admired for alway helping others
Son had just graduated from Georgetown law
Time he was being recruted but wife was still in school
Losting ten months was not a good thing
The Judge called some friends
Law firm came and said, "We have no openings."
But for you we will find one
This Judge did the same thing for me when I needed a job.
The kind of man Judge Schauers was his whole life
Always ready to do the right thing for others
