Harry Sweeden. My life in verse.

In a flash

It all came back
In a flash…
Ambulances screaming
People crying
Dust cloud rising
Young ones… dying...
I heard what sounded like
A flock of birds flying
As the shock wave rattled my windows
But I knew it wasn’t
I could feel the hatred in the air
Smell the anger… burning
Hears the screams rising…
35 children died that night
When a suicide bomber
…exploded his bomb
Next to a cue of teenagers
waiting to go dancing

Children that will never see
Their own dreams fulfilled
Their own fears conquered
Or experience their own mountain climbed
It was taken from them
Just as in Manchester 17 years on…
It is a crime against humanity
a crime against sanity
Yet still the children fall
And still the madmen call
For more blood…
When will it end?
