I cannot bring back tomorrow
Or the power to end worldly sorrow
I cannot end racial hatred
Nor amongst the giants sit
I am not that great a wit
If I am not read
I must pray instead
Put these words to bed
The homeless fed
Ease Grandma's pain with a med
I am man of color--white
All come from the womb of the Same Mother
To end hatred take one another
Sister Father child of God and brother
I see poems of hate
The breaking up of one's mate
And I am powerless to do a thing
Yet nothing takes away the sting
The closer I get to death
I must leave love behind for the rest
For me I can find no ending
The Lord above and Angels do the mending
This endless message I am sending
Is get along people life is short
