The Tinman

 The Tinman

Well hello there Mr. Tinman
What is that you say
You feel your heart is broken
And you want to give it back today

I have to ask this question
I have to ask you ...
Why

Are those tears falling to your cheeks
Tinman please don't cry

Oh I am so sorry Mr. Tinman
What you ask of me I can't do
Once a heart is given
It can belong to only you

I understand Mr. Tinman
But there is nothing more
That I can say

I know that you feel
Your heart is broken
But you can't give it away

To own a heart can sometimes
Mean sadness but
It also can bring great joy
It does not come with warranties
Your heart is not a toy

I can only tell you Mr. Tinman
As the owner of a heart
It WILL sometimes feel
As if its broken
As if it has been torn apart

Your heart is a wonderous gift
It can give and receive true love
But to receive the truest of all emotions
You must heed my words above

No more tears now Mr. Tinman
I just bet I know what it could be
I am glad that you stopped by today
I forgot to give your heart its key

Just remember Mr. Tinman
As the keeper of your heart
You must mold it very carefully
To love right from the start

Do not let it cause a tear
Because of
What you choose to do

Be wise with who you share your heart
Because it still can break in two
A broken heart is a two way street
It can also come from you

Good Day now Mr. Tinman
I have other things that I must do
I have handed you the key to your heart
What comes next is up to you
