Show Must Go On

Show Must Go On

That evening
Dreadful silence descended
Over the cattle shade
With trembling hands and heavy heart
The old master
Was serving fodder to bullocks near cart
That evening alone was he
Mistress no more, gone was she
He was feeding the cattle in the courtyard
She was laid to rest in the graveyard
Dumb, mute they could smell death
They couldn't express grief
But with deep sigh in brief
The death of the dear partner
To him could not deter
Though grief stricken
Not a word he did utter
Daily rituals he acted upon
Something between life and death
Whispered,”Show must go on “
