The Stand
Their green canopy spread wide
Looking very majestic and tall
Upright they stood for decades
Giving shelter and fruit to all
To be chopped down ruthlessly
Into pieces of firewood, small
Where once glorious trees flourished
Now stands an ugly concrete mall
If this is what is called development
I don't want anything to do with it at all
Looking very majestic and tall
Upright they stood for decades
Giving shelter and fruit to all
To be chopped down ruthlessly
Into pieces of firewood, small
Where once glorious trees flourished
Now stands an ugly concrete mall
If this is what is called development
I don't want anything to do with it at all
