 Contemporary poetry by Dan Donlan

As we age the knife is raised
But do we reallly want surgery
The knees ache but what difference
it would make and things can go wrong
I don't want to hear the walker sound
So how much pain can you stand?
True also if you stop trying
A wheel chair you are buying
Doc said if Cancer returned
Probably live another ten years
It is the added time to suffer this dude fears
Think I well take another tylenal
Doc said just avoid another fall
I have to realize I'm not a kid anymore
And cut back to simple chores
