Really not my bag
I had several girlfriends
Before I met my wife
Some I thought the real thing
This is not a brag just facts
I found love as evasive as I see
Some of you are having on this site
In the second grade to ninth grade
Thought she was my lifetime dream
"You are the last boy on earth I would date
Your Dad's the neighborhood drunk
You have nothing, no car, just like your Dad
You well fail and be just a drunk
Up note: Found her in the obituaries 2004
I read her obituary died in a trailer park
I drove by it coming from
My first home up on the hill far above
Not a wealthy man my home filled with love
Drunk and living with her fourth husband
I know some of your pain
I only dreamed someone was there for me
My love became sports only admired girls from afar
I was turning out for the basketball team
Two girls came every night to watch
I was sure they were not watching me
But one day I saw this girl outside the bus
If left the activity bus five mile run home
It was dark and I got off the bus walked her home
I thought for sure she had to be my friends girlfriend
Surely not there for me girls did not like me
I moved in my Senior year to a new school
There wasn't time to say goodbye tryouts with a new team
But I could not forget her and still did not have a car
I came back to find her and her girlfriends said,
"You broke her heart stay away." How could I break a heart?
I just could not believe love would come to me
Girls were always friend sometimes I was blind
Several times I walked away from relationships to avoid hurt
The day I love you poetry came I had no choice
When I looked in her eyes I knew there was no longer a wait
November 17, 1961 is the day we wed and my search ended
I don't have to write I love you everyday she knows it without words
Once a year I write a anniversary poem and this is the beginning
I say to those who wonder when real love comes you won't have doubts
