Stranded
Every wave is another memory
They hit my back with every breath
I can't tell if I'm following them or they're mocking me
The boat rises
I see her tiny fingers reach through the sand
The boat falls
I hear her laugh echo through the seagull's call
My lips are dry and cracked - like the desert island I conjure over the horizon
My fingertips soak in the salt water - I run them over my lips
I know it makes things worse, but it's the only thing I can control
The boat rises
I see the lightning splash against the stars
The boat falls
I hear the steel rattle as the thunder grows
I've seen three sets of red lights in sky's inky edge
There's people up there
I imagine them looking out their windows, counting the clouds until they reach home
The boat rises
I see the door collapse under the wind
The boat falls
I hear a splash
