“His Page”
Why couldn’t
she
just be done
with him
she has no
reason
to check his
facebook page
they still had
some friends
in common
and on most
days
she would fool
herself
by just clicking
from friend
to friend
till she “accidently”
came across his
profile page
but not today
she just typed
in his name
as soon as
she sat down
and started
looking
at his
life
the one
he has
without her
in it,
so many happy
pictures
new accomplishments
positive messages
she was kind of
hoping
for a few
sad ones
a couple showing
him
deep in thought
trying to figure
out
what direction
to point his
life in
now that they
were no longer
together
but there weren’t
any
she had watched
the number of
pictures
she was in
on his page
steadily drop
till only one
remained
she was in
a group of
friends
with him
when the picture
was taken
he was
not near her
in the shot
she wonders if
it just took
him
this long to
notice her
in it
before cutting it
and her
out of his
posted memories
or maybe
it just fell
victim
to some digital
house cleaning
she continues
to look through
his page
he still claims
single
as his personal
status
but she keeps
seeing
more and more
pictures
and comments
with this one
cute face
staring back
at her
why did this
girl
have to be
so damn pretty
she would have
preferred
coming across
some dog faced
creature
but with a
great
personality
that he had
just grown
to love
she seemed so
out of his
league
maybe just words
of jealously
from a woman
who doesn’t feel
as pretty
as the one
she’s looking
at
or is it
wishful thinking
from a woman
who just misses
being loved
by a man
she just can’t
forget
why is she
doing this to
herself
over and over
again
a reexamination
of a situation
whose outcome
never changes,
she clicks on
a new picture
of him
and that very
pretty girl
she enlarges it
wishing that she
didn’t

Hot
she closes the
window
containing him
and that pretty
face
and backs
all the way
out
to his home
page
she gets up
goes to her
bedroom
changes into
one of her
Hottest outfits
checks her look
in a full length
mirror
before snapping
a selfie
“maybe it’s time”
“I got to work”
“on my own”
“facebook page”
she says
to her laptop
which is still
beaming his face
across the room
at her
she leans over
clicks from
his page
to hers
and uploads
the selfie
she just took
the first change
to her page
in months
with the caption
“Hot Single Girl”
“Watch Out Boys”
then grabs her
keys
and her
new
attitude
and heads
towards
the center
of town…
