Mostly shades
and shadows
edgings on the buildings
covering the ground
transforming
everyone
everything
all around
snow flakes falling
cascading down
soften my heart
I can feel myself melting
I like the silence
I like the secrets
the colors the flakes hide
deep within
I like the anticipations
that comes with
each early snow
and in the Spring
like death and rebirth
I wonder where it all goes
I like its ability
to create a world of
willing suspense and possibility
could there be a dream out in the white
waiting somewhere for me
I think so
yes maybe I think so
I like to drink the little snowflakes in
its not like when it rains
and you're drowned
snow is a softening of the rain
I can imagine a heavenly Benevolent Being
peering down into my snow-globe world
and seeing me
the real me
the one others rarely see
and smiling benignly
with happy snow tears falling
my jacket, my boots, my hat and scarf
covered
blanketed
with Its joy
how
I feel muffled
protected
shielded
from the coldness of the world
layer upon layer
the snow
and my winter clothes become
as I snuggle into this gentleness
my face and eyes peer out
exposed
seeking
vulnerable
snow is
for me
always
a softening of the rain....
