transaction and interchange

transaction and interchange
human beings have really changed
going forwards now
seems going backwards
conversations mostly lack words
and content

it used to be
you could share words with
almost any one
not so much anymore
we electrify our opinions
more and more
we don't need an audience
we need a new device
we can spew things not so nice
don't see the disapproving looks
just confirmation that the message
"took"

transactions and interchanges
don't occur,
not even in real stores
the inconvenience
the grind of it
the kindness of it
is such a grinding bore

I miss the complications of
a human touch
I like to see the person in front of me
so much
to know who I'm working with
and maybe then I'll work with them more
that is
unless I have chosen not to answer
the door
or ignore the phone
pretend that I am not at home

at least that's a version of personal choice
and not interacting
with some generated
disembodied voice

though honestly
today most of us are rarely quite at home
jobless/homeless
living in one great big Mac-jobbing economy

its all an illusion
or an app
no application
of words need ever bridge the gap
