My Life (post divorce and empty nest) in Sonnets
Dating Rules
Original Contemporary Poetry by author, Jean Parr
"Dating Rules”
Do not frequently text
Do not have conversations about your future
I'm surprised there's not a steadfast rule on sex
Well, at least I'm allowed to have a suitor
Even if I feel it, don't say I love you
Don't spend too much time together
How is he supposed to know if I don't give him a clue?
This seems a lie, as tenuous as the weather
Boundaries, time, and distance are my enemy
I know what I want, but it will scare him away
Why are there rules associated with destiny?
The only constant in my life remains yesterday
Only time will tell
No matter that fate has handed me church bells
