Heavens Fallen Soldiers

Heavens fallen soldiers of the war to end all wars
Gather up your metals to lie before the Lord
Your bodies now decommissioned, your souls now at rest
Your spirits now promoted to enjoy heavens best
You've fought the good fight, you've endured the race
Now your eyes can gaze upon your Commanders' face
Hear the angels cheering as you embrace the risen One
And places a crown on your heads declaring job well done
You battled thru the darkness until you could see the Son
Some fought for more than 50 years while other less than one
Whatever task and time was given, you worked until the end
You braved the path to heaven's gate so others could make it in
Mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers
Aunts, uncles, and countless others
Children far too young to die
All left us here to wonder why
It was the commission we can hear you say
Whatever the orders, we must obey
Heavens fallen soldiers, we salute you, one and all
You knew the persecution yet still answered the call
Your assignment here is finished, but there is more to do
We advance under the authority and power that accompanied you
The grace and mercy needed to aid us through all attacks
The helmet, shield and sword with which to battle back
Thank you heavens fallen soldiers for paving the way
We now follow in your example to meet again some day

For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Phil. 1:21
