Among the grains of sand
Still the darkened morning
The sun yet to appear,
The beach an empty place
No one is yet here.
I walk alone to waters edge
The surf is still and calm,
I gaze along the empty space,
Taking in the time.
We stood here together,
You and I and friends,
To cast her ashes on the beach...
Among the grains of sand.
Here I am,
Once again...
A cup of you in hand.
I raise you up..
And cast you out,
You drift slowly to the earth,
So now you rest together...
Among the grains of sand.
Once more together...
Forever with the sand.
