10% of Nothing

10% of my nothing sure goes a long way
Since I got a hold of the Word of God one day
I attended church for years and every now and then
I'd drop a 5 in the offering, one time a whole ten
I never had much so felt God understood
All things considered I felt I was pretty good
I had heard about tithing but it wasn't my thing
How could I tithe 10% of nothing?
Then I heard a sermon by Pastor Dan Roth
I discovered that my reasoning wasn't too far off
I really had nothing; not one thing at all
But my misuse of that nothing was my down fall
I had to re-evaluate and get my thinking right
And hold my nothing up to the Word of light
As an owner myself I am broke of course
But as a steward I have unlimited resource
God comes to us with an unbelievable deal
But faith is the test to see if it's real
He says I have given you all of My wealth
But I reserve the right to 10% for myself
I will not accept it by force of hand
It must be heart felt and purposely planned
The tithe is not to be an occasional gift
Or a hand out you resentfully lift
But the first fruits, the top of the stack
Joyfully received and joyfully given back
So my thought process was like, hold on, wait
Give me a second to get it all straight
I get unlimited credit but only 10% of the bill
Who on earth would turn away that deal
The cost is not monetary but actually faith
I give in hope, believe and wait
And all I really lose is fear
My every need is already here
Have you ever considered that?
Faith invested is guaranteed to come back
10% of nothing is fortune untold
If I consider the resource everlasting of old
