Rich Man/ Poor Man/Heaven/Hell

Some folks believe in neither...
Some in one but not the other.
But Jesus spoke of both and I
Simply cannot believe another.

Is there a Heaven and a Hell?
Yes, the Bible says there is.
And since we know God cannot lie
This solemn truth is His.

In the parable of the poor man
Sitting at the rich man's gate
Just begging for the crumbs that fell
From the pompous rich man's plate.

Didn't Jesus make it very clear
That the rich man was in Hell...
Tormented by an endless flame
While the poor man had fared well?

Very much at ease and comforted
 In the Breast of Abraham...
He no longer had to beg for crumbs
 Paradise now housed this man.

Reminded why he was in Hell
And it was not for being rich...
But for the rich man's lack of mercy
Had God allowed their roles to switch.

Now that roles had been reversed
Compassion was his one desire...
He begged for just a drop of water
To help relieve him in this fire.

He also asked that someone warn
His brothers of this Hell...
But was told they had the Scriptures
And the Scriptures warned them well.

Now Jesus used this parable
To illustrate the price of greed
To those who live in selfishness
And ignore the ones in need.

But, even more than this, I feel
The rich man knew not God.
He never read the Scriptures...
Nor to the temple had he trod.

Why end up in this awful place?
A place that God calls Hell...
Made for the devil and his demons...
Not for you or I to dwell.

We should know the way to Heaven...
It's stated so plain in The Word.
To believe the gospel of inclusion
Would be so totally absurd.

I cannot wrap my thoughts around
A Hell-free theology.
Jesus said there was a Hell
And that settles it for me.

 ~~Author's Note~~
A lot of pastors don't preach on Hell
anymore....my pastor does...His sermon
last Sunday generated an altar filled
with repentant sinners. A lot of people
don't like these type sermons...they want
their ears tickled...they want to hear that
God is love... but nothing about sin and the
consequences of not repenting for those sins.
Well, God is love...and He's merciful...but He's
also just. Calvary provided the only way for sins
to be forgiven....one either goes to Calvary or

the alternate. Jesus didn't die a shameful,
tormenting death for nothing. He died to keep
us out of Hell.

John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.

Matthew 25:41
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me,
you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil
and his angels.

Revelation 21:8
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers,
the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts,
the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake
of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
