The Man Nobody Remembers

He's the man nobody remembers:
Oh they know they know the face
They don't from when and where,
An occasion they just can't place.
And he smiles quite contentedly
His manner always the same
As time after time after time
He again tells them his name.

They  say of course it is,
How on earth could I forget,
The same thing they'd said
The last time that they'd met.
He smiles philosophically
Accepts what they say
Why let such trifles spoil
An otherwise nice day.

The next time they meet
They'll embarrassedly mutter
As they try to remember,
And hum and haw and stutter
Until released from their misery
By the confident and easy ways
He manages to slip his name
Into something that he says.
He has such a pleasant face
And he's such a very nice man
But when it comes to remembering
His name it's seems so very few can.
He's the man nobody remembers but
It doesn't cause him stress or strife,
And at work he wears a name badge,
To make for a simpler life.
