Till we Meet Again

Time drifts past, slowly dulling the pain,
Yet I just can't wait until we meet again.
It tore my heart out to see your memories fade,
To see the brightness of your eyes turn a duller shade.

One thing never changed, your love for God and family,
Even as your thoughts clouded, you remained happy.
Knowing your family was saved, and you would see them again,
Oh Mom, I know you are happy, but I can't wait till we meet again.

You spent so much of your time caring and praying for me,
Now your precious spirit is unfettered and free.
I struggle on, here in this world of broken men,
But I just can't wait till I see you again.

It was an odd gift you gave, dying the day before my birthday,
Yet it made me smile to hear you said, you were going home to stay.
Time drags slowly on, like a snake over rocky terrain,
And I can't wait till we meet again.
