Rejected at Nazareth (Mark 6:1-6)

The place you grew up in, the people you were raised with
They encouraged you to dream but now reject the gift
The ones you gave your best too, sacrificed the most for
Now the first to remind you of who you were before
The many times you forgave, the many things you forgot
They don't recognize what you are; only what you are not
The celebrations were many when you were common placed
But they will not acknowledge that change has taken place
The ones you expected to be the happiest for you
The ones who should appreciate all that you do
The ones you pray for, and labor in the spirit
The Lord gave a word but they won't hear it
Jesus in his own country, His own part of town
Brought the same miracles the followed Him around
They knew they were real, the witnesses were true
Yet when He came to them what did they say and do?
The same thing they do to you when you're around
Remind you of who you were and try to pull you down
Jesus recognized rejection as a part of life
He marveled at the lack of faith but continued in the light
Instead of dwelling in the resistance to His reaching
“He went about the villages in a circuit teaching”
He didn't stay focused on the hate and the doubt
He couldn't do much within, so He simply branched out
Just because they didn't believe didn't change who He was
In the same way rejection doesn't change His love for us
You are still a child of God most high
The beat of His heart, the apple of His eye
Bought with a price, redeemed at a high cost
A great sacrifice was made so you wouldn't be lost
He saw so much in you that He gave His only Son for you
And will never change no matter what others say and do
Now come out of Nazareth; that place of rejection
And go reach in the power of Christ resurrection
