The Messiah's Seat

Synagogue on the Sabbath
Was customary for Him...
Chances of not attending
Would sure have been slim.

He was handed the Scroll...
This was not something new...
But what He chose to read
Would be forever a clue.

As to whom He really was...
For He unmistakenly claimed
He was the fulfillment
Of all which was named.

Announcing God's anointing
 To set the captives free...
To bring healing to the sick...
 To the oppressed bring liberty...

To preach the Gospel to the poor...
And that blinded eyes might see...
To heal the brokenhearted...
To proclaim the Year of Jubilee!

Having finished the reading
He returned the Scroll, sat down.
All eyes were upon Him...
Was where He sat off bounds?

Some will say it's just a rumor...
Which could be, but it's still neat
To think that Jesus did sit down
In the Messiah's saved seat.

Maybe it is just a story?
Or perhaps a revelation?
In ancient times I'm told two chairs
Faced the congregation.

It's said one was never used...
It  simply awaited the One
Whom Israel expected
But had He already come?

Whatever Jesus did or said
Within that synagogue created
Anger in His hometown folk...
For thus The Word has stated.

But my faith will not be moved
By whatever did take place
In that synagogue in Nazareth
For I'm under my God's Grace...

And Grace leads me to Heaven...
Where Messiah's seat is found
At the right hand of the Father...
This is where my Lord sat down.

~~Dedicated to Sandy~~
(In memory of our dear friend
and fellow poet, Kathy/Sunshine12)

He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up.

And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue
on the Sabbath day and stood up to read. And He was
handed the book of the prophet Isiah. And when He
had opened the book, He found the place where it
was written:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
Luke 4:16-19

After the LORD Jesus had spoken to them, he was
taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.
Mark 12:19
