Transgression speaks to the wicked, Down deep in their corrupted heart; Iniquities are addicted, No fear of God will they impart. He flatters himself with his eyes, Iniquity cannot be found; To another he will disguise, His words will have an empty sound. Those words are trouble and deceit, Ceasing to act wisely and do good; He devises mischief to cheat, Rationale is not understood. He sets himself what is not right, For he will not reject evil; He stays in darkness not in light, Having dealings with the devil. But the steadfast love of the Lord, Extending out into Heaven; His faithfulness is not ignored, All the blessings He has given. His righteousness like the mountains, And judgements are like the great deep; He satisfies thirst with fountains, Watches over us as we sleep. How precious is His steadfast love, His children sheltered in His wings; And shielding us from up above, Such a tranquil comfort He brings. They abundantly feast in His house, Drinks from the river of delight; Pleasures with others not their spouse, That continue throughout the night. But God is the fountain of life, Within His light we shall see light; Guiding us away from the strife, With wisdom to give us insight. His righteousness purifies heart, As His steadfast love will fill them; Any arrogance will depart, Sparing His wrath which would condemn. Copyright © 2021 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
