An OLD Drunk's Prayer

Dear Lord, please give me peace of mind and
solitude. Is that too much to ask?

I’m old and tired, time has passed me by real fast.
I’ve tried and tried, but no golden spoon,
no flight to the moon.
Okay, I spent a few days in the salon.

What happened to all those years?
But you see, I’ve shed all those tears!
Okay, okay,  so I’ve drank a few too many beers.

Am I condemned forever to wonder why?
So I get a little drunk and yell at the sky.

You know me Lord!
I don’t mean to use your name in vain,
it’s the devil that makes me insane.

If you’ll just give me another chance
and knock off about twenty years
and let me go back to about fifty…
I promise to go straight, and walk a narrow path!
Lord, you know me! I don’t want to bring on your wrath.

What’s that you say?
Oh! Lord,
Surly you don’t mean that!
I’d better kiss it goodbye and grab my hat?

But that place is hotter than h…,
Oh! Lord, I'm not feeling so well!
