A little girl,
Filled with innocence
All dressed up
In girlish clothes
With hair of curls
Held back by ribbons
And a smile so big
Trusting and loving the world

Daddy's little girl
Mommy's little helper
Grandpa's favorite
Grandma's sweetheart
The beautiful child
With charm enough
To have people's hearts
Wrapped around her little finger

One day she grew up
That little girl has gone somewhere
Knowledge and experiences
Had hardened her heart
Time had tired her
And slowed her down
People had screwed her over
One way or another

Loathed the world and the people
Had she done and obsessed about
Especially hatred for life
Her mouth set in a downward position
Her eyes low on the ground
Her head bent over in avoidance
She came and went, here and there
With emotions, so scarred and messed up

Until she was blessed
With the permanent presence and beauty
Of true love in her life
Struggled against the goodness she did
For badness and depression were habits
She soared, crashed, and soared again,
With the love, patience, and support
Given unconditionally by her true love

Her mouth smiling, her eyes twinkling
Her head high, her body proud
A swirl of beauty, happiness, life, and love
Went with her wherever she went
Death was finally so far away
As her true love had opened her eyes
To a beautiful side of life,
Especially the little girl within.
