Be silent before the Lord, The day of the Lord is near; Preparedness not be ignored, Consecrated to revere. His sacrifice on that day, He will punish officials; Of His rule who disobey, Wearing foreign apparels. Those with violence and fraud, And leap over the threshold; Worshipping another god, Will then see His wrath unfold. Cries be heard from the fish gate, Wails from the second quarter; From the hills for shouts of hate, Death of your son and daughter. Inhabitants of Mortar, All the traders are no more; Gold worthless to exporter, Weight of silver ignore. Search Jerusalem with lamps, He will punish the smug men; Those who will sleep with the vamps, In brothels time and again. They say the Lord will do ill, That He will never do good; As Satan will do evil, People will stand where he stood. Their goods then shall be plundered, As their houses are laid to waste; And their vineyards are sundered, The wine will have a bad taste. The day of the Lord is near, And be waiting on their path; For those who do not revere, They will be feeling His wrath. Copyright ©2023 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
