Humble

In another time and place,
I might have won life’s race.
But now it’s too late to try
and save face.

I am what I am…
and that I  can not deny,
with eagles I shall never fly.

Just ordinary, plain, and simple
that’s been my fate.
Not a president, lawyer, doctor,
0r a governor of some great state.

Humble I am, humble I shall always be,
just an ordinary man writing this little
poem under a mighty oak tree.
