Mortals

Mortals one and all,
with no control of our final destiny’s end.
The sun comes up and the sun goes
down, day after day. Then one day we
look back and wonder where we’ve been.

Oh! How could time have passed so fast?
Is it really true, is my life’s end near
at last?

One glance into the mirror of
truth, and the answer becomes
very clear.  It’s too late for regrets
or a single self  incriminating tear.

The journey has been rocky at times,
but over all life has been an epic
opera of poetry of  love of family and
friends. But as you and I know, life
will be bittersweet to the very end.

Flesh and blood, ashes to ashes,
dust in the wind. May my spirit
linger perhaps, as a cool rain
drop, or warm summer breeze…
among family, friends and
God’s tall oak trees.
