The Human Beast

Down through the eons of time,
humanity has tried to make life sublime.
But in all its learning and wisdom, has
failed to make life rhyme.

For centuries, with sticks and
stones they continually broke
each other’s bones.

Today, they continue with
bullets, bombs and rockets
far beyond.

They've searched and searched
for that elusive peace,
but as you and I well know...
it’s not in the nature of the human beast.
