This weekend to me revealed,
A matter that's mostly concealed
How much different things can be,
We consider normality.
How varied "NORMAL" can be,
Dictated by personality
Environment and culture, too,
Help shape the status quo for you.
We live our lives with tinted hues,
Based on standards we adopt and choose
Which cloud our vision, others to see,
And their chosen reality.
To judge others based on our self,
Is thus to rob others of their wealth.
We don't know who, or what they have been,
Based on sight, not looking within.
"Normal" to us, can seem absurd,
To others who are not so absorbed.
"Normal" to them, we view as strange,
May tempt us, them to rearrange.
Let us seek to give others space,
To be themselves, their own choices make.
That we're not all alike, respect,
Let attitude, freedom reflect.
Truth is truth, it does not lie,
But let's see also the other side
From where we stand--how much is known?
Tread kindly, friend, their life is their own!
