Another Lifetime

Twisted and tangled
Your words cut like a knife
You've filled once sweet dreams
With fear, dread and strife
Why can't you hinder
Some other heart but mine

So I pray....
Would it be wrong Lord...
To ask for another lifetime

Echoing hatred
That never meets silence
Are you crushing a soft heart
Out of spite or defiance?
I've sat with regret
Until night met sunshine

So I pray
Would it be wrong Lord...
To ask for another lifetime

The heart heals with time
Or so it is said
Does it ever stop the thoughts
Spiraling in your head?
For pain marks the soul
With a distinctive line....

I'm on my knees pleading
I ask of you Lord...
Let me have another lifetime
