Sands

I open up my hands now
Specks of sand, I set you free
I watch you blowing to the wind
I cry as you dance upon the sea

In solitude I wait for you
Upon the ebbing tide I pray your return
Your path may hold an altered course
Your destiny a lesson yet to learn

I remember how I carried you
Held in clenched hand.....
Held like a memory to my chest
But still I had to let you go
To fly through life and one more test
