Heros
The Battling Bastards of Bataan
(I believe the subject of this poem is
self-explanatory, I hope you enjoy it)
The fate of the islands of the Philippines
was left to a group of natives and marines
when they were attacked by Japan
while most people would have ran
these brave souls continued to stand
those courageous Battling Bastards of Bataan
December 7th, ‘41, Japan bombs the U.S.
Then they swept through the Pacific with their best
they hit the Philippines like a tidal wave
not a single island could the marines save
They were pushed back to the peninsula of Bataan
where they would make their last stand
for day after day, they were under siege
fighting in conditions you wouldn't believe
They were running low on ammo and food
no medical supplies to wrap their wounds
and yet they continued to fight
through each day; through each night
They fought a fight that couldn't be won
it was only a matter of time before they'd be overrun
and finally with no sign of receiving any backup
the natives and marines were forced to give up
After the fight, no mercy did the Japanese give
to the Allied soldiers who still lived
they made them march for endless miles
beating, stabbing, and shooting them all the while
When they got to the camp for prisoners
no soldier felt he was a winner
for even though the survived the march
they knew the camp would be just as harsh
In this camp, hundreds of men died each day
this was malicious torture, the Japanese way
this is a tale that we should all know well
it's about a group of men who went through hell
In ‘41 to ‘42, the fate of the islands of the Philippines
fell onto the shoulders of a group of natives and marines
when they were attacked by the Empire of Japan
and even though most people would have ran
these brave soldiers continued to stand
those courageous Battling Bastards of Bataan
