Wishing On The Moon

Wishing on the Moon
As she looked up at the sky,
She tried real hard not to cry.
It seemed the moon was full tonight,
She could make out his face...oh what a sight.
Smiling down at her,she couldn't help but smile back,
That was something of late...she had lacked.
From her perch on top of the highest peak it seemed to glow,
So brightly it lit up the little village below.
What a mysterious light, she thought as she looked around,
No one in sight...she couldn't hear the slightest sound.
Maybe she should wish on the moon instead of a star,
After all...that never seemed to get her very far.
She closed her eyes and made her wish...then looked
back at the moon,
She'd swear he winked at her...then she heard someone
humming a tune.
She turned, and there he was...standing by her side,
That was it...she started laughing, and then she cried.
Her love, also her wish...held her to him close and tight,
Their embrace was a silhouette in the shadows of
the night.
With the stars twinkling in her eyes she said,"I just made
a wish on the man in the moon",
"He granted my wish...I just can't believe it came true so soon".
She turned back to the moon and gave him a wink and a smile,
Then she turned to her beloved...now life was so worthwhile.
