This poem teaches that what is truly
important in this life is not the
acquiring of things but the filling
of your heart with things that are
virtuous, lovely, or of good report
or praiseworthy...such as gentle,
uplifting music, kind words and
deeds etc.
Revelation 2: 26-27 says that those
who overcome shall rule with a rod
of iron. Prayerful research will
confirm that the rod of iron or
"iron rods" as it is so put in the
poem is in direct reference to the
word(s) of God.
The Special You
It's not the car that makes a man,
It's not the schools that say you can!
It's not the dresses, shoes or rings...
That fill you full of Godly things.
It's not the money that you hold,
It's not the diamonds, pearls or gold.
It's not the eyes or hair you see,
That lead you to eternity.
It's what's within your heart and mind
That opens up your soul to find;
The beauty of a kindly deed,
The joy of helping one in need...
The rapture of an age old hymn
That keeps God's light from growing dim!
So put away your worldly gods
And teach a friend of Iron Rods...
A little smile...a helping hand,
May not slow down the hourglass sand...
But in these little things you'll find,
The special You...God has in mind!
